FAQ > Training > How fast can you train my dog?
This question will be partly answered by having you and your dog go through the evaluation process that all clients undergo at the beginning of the training process. The evaluation will determine the innate learning ability of your dog, your dog's motivation to learn, and your dog's experience with the learning process (whether you dog has already "learned how to learn"). A training plan will be formulated based on the evaluation which will specify the number of lessons necessary to achieve the desired training results. A critical component of that plan will be a commitment on the part of you, the owner, to PRACTICE the skills that Lexi teaches you and your dog between lessons with Lexi. Daily practice between lessons is a necessary component in training in order to insure that the training results are recognized satisfactorily within the time frame agreed upon in the training plan. Owner and dog must conscientiously work together both as a team and with Lexi to eliminate the bad habits and/or learning the new desired skills included in the training plan.
If, after the evaluation, the client chooses to enroll the dog in Board and Train program (3 weeks is the minimum for the Board and Train program), the dog will be immersed in training by living as a member of Lexi's family. In this case, training will become Lexi's responsibility, and at the end of the board and train experience, Lexi will instruct the owner as to how to maintain the skills that the dog has learned while in board and train.
